JetBlue
On September 21, 2005 all of Los Angeles was riveted to their TV's or radios while the drama of JebBlue Flight 292 was playing out in the sky above Southern California. I first heard the news on the radio while driving home. From the coverage I thought that something terrible was going to happen once the AirBus 320 attempted to land. The coverage was relentless as each media outlet paraded their aviation experts out giving testimony that left most denizens more confused about the outcome. Once I got home and saw video of the down-and-locked landing gear I knew that the professional pilot would have no trouble landing the aircraft safely.
In the end, the only drama that occured was in the media-outlets that ran 3 hour coverage of this event. This drama whipped up only for the purpose of getting an audience to watch, nothing else. The passengers on Flight 292 are fortunate that this event did not turn into a real news story.
